At the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Wayne and Holmes Counties, we are always striving to provide our community with resources, either via our funded partner agencies or through collaboration with our community partners. We feel that everyone can benefit from taking a few minutes, as often as needed, for a mindfulness session. Mindfulness is defined as "the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something" and "a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique." 

These sessions are not based on any religion, rather are intended to help bring one's focus to the present moment and individual breath. These can be particularly useful for frequent practice and even as a tactic to assist in the calming of anxiety.
